With one movie based on a fake Grindhousetrailer hitting theatres this past weekend, and Eli Roth in the process of fleshing out another one, believe it or not, there is also a third Grindhouse spin-off getting a feature film as well — and no, I’m not talk about Edgar Wright’s Don’t. Back in 2007, certain prints of Grindhouse also had another trailer attached for a movie called Hobo with a Shotgun. The trailer was directed by Jason Eisener, and earned its spot as the winner of a SXSW fake trailer contest held by Rodriguez himself. Now Eisener is turning Hobo with a Shotgun into a real movie, and the first teaser trailer is playing with Machete this weekend.
For the feature-length version, Eisener managed to recruit Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner) in the lead role, but it does not quite have the same star-studded cast as, say, Machete. However, what it lacks in star power, it makes up for in pure authenticity. This thing looks every bit as low budget and ridiculously violent as the exploitation movies it seeks to emulate. A release date still has yet to be announced, but shooting has wrapped and the movie is currently in post-production. For more info, stay tuned to the official website; now check out the all new unrated teaser trailer for Hobo with a Shotgun.

A Warhammer 40K film in the works, and we finally get a trailer.
Supernatural the Animation project is now streaming a 34-second teaser trailer. The acclaimed anime studio MADHOUSE (Death Note, Paprika, Vampire Hunter D, Summer Wars) is producing the previously announced 22-episode anime for Warner Brothers.
Shigeyuki Miya (Lupin III: Green vs Red, Aoi Bungaku Series, Buzzer Beater) and Atsuko Ishizuka (Aoi Bungaku Series) are co-directing the project. Warner Home Video will ship Supernatural the Animation on Blu-ray and DVD in Japan in two boxes on January 12 and April 6, 2011.The original live-action series follows the Winchester brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) as they hunt creatures and other supernatural phenomena across the American landscape. The series premiered on The WB network in the United States in 2005, and it will enter its sixth season on The WB’s replacement network, The CW, this fall.
Padalecki and Ackles confirmed at Comic-Con International last month that they are contributing to the dubbing of the anime along with their Japanese dubbing counterparts Yuya Uchida (Soul Eater’s Dr. Franken Stein, Naruto Shippūden’s Rinji) as Sam and Hiroki Touchi (Trinity Blood’s Abel Nightroad, Bokurano’s Kokkpelli) as Dean.
So that’s Mark Rufallo, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Clark Gregg, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, etc. These are the actors that will bring our beloved superhero team to the big screen. All of them, came out together on Marvel’s panel at Comic-Con this year. Here’s the teaser trailer for The Avengers, that was also shown for fans at Comic-Con.
Ok. Not much to digest, but so much to expect. We get a logo, Sam Jackson citing some lines about our team, and that’s it. Again, not much, but isn’t this enough to get any fan pumped up?
Before you get too excited, no, this is not a movie trailer for the big screen adaptation of The Avengers which Joss Whedon hasn’t even begun shooting. Marvel Studios has released a new teaser trailer for The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the new animated series which is set to assemble in Fall 2010 on Disney XD.

* * * The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader hits theaters on December 10th, 2010.
Reign of Assassins, coming this fall to theaters, is a martial arts action flick featuring Michelle Yeoh as a deadly woman on a dangerous mission.
Directed by Chao-Bin Su and John Woo based on Chao-Bin Su’s script, Reign of Assassins falls under that category of awesome recent innovative martial arts films like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in which women possess deadly powers and are never to be underestimated. There’s also a fantastical setting to the story – mythical historical China, which is filled with monks, warriors, religion, kings, and romance.
The official synopsis: A skilled assassin finds herself on a quest to carry the mystical remnants of a Buddhist monk through China. A team of deadly assassins follow her, placing her in a fight for her life as she attempts to put the power-wielding secret of the monk to rest.
As expected, Josh Hartnett and Melissa George have not returned for this sequel, and neither has director David Slade. Kiele Sanchez (Lost,A Perfect Getaway) is taking over the role of Stella, and the cast also includes Harold Perrineau and Mia Kirshner. Director Ben Ketai, who previously did the web series 30 Days of Night: Dust to Dust, has stepped in for Slade, and for the most part the visual style of the original seems to be intact. Hits DVD and Blu-ray on October 5th 2010.
The vague synopsis explains that filmmakers Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost began to document an online relationship that was developing between Ariel’s brother Nev and a girl that he met on the internet. They eventually decided to take a road trip from New York to rural Michigan to meet her, at which point they discovered something that was both “shocking” and “unsettling”. The trailer is also pretty elusive, but it does a great job of setting up the mystery and leaves you dying to find out what happens next. The fact that this is a real documentary makes it even more intriguing, although the way the trailer is structured almost leads you to believe it is fake. Either way, I am sold. Catfish hits select theatres on September 17th 2010.
