With one movie based on a fake Grindhousetrailer hitting theatres this past weekend, and Eli Roth in the process of fleshing out another one, believe it or not, there is also a third Grindhouse spin-off getting a feature film as well — and no, I’m not talk about Edgar Wright’s Don’t. Back in 2007, certain prints of Grindhouse also had another trailer attached for a movie called Hobo with a Shotgun. The trailer was directed by Jason Eisener, and earned its spot as the winner of a SXSW fake trailer contest held by Rodriguez himself. Now Eisener is turning Hobo with a Shotgun into a real movie, and the first teaser trailer is playing with Machete this weekend.

For the feature-length version, Eisener managed to recruit Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner) in the lead role, but it does not quite have the same star-studded cast as, say, Machete. However, what it lacks in star power, it makes up for in pure authenticity. This thing looks every bit as low budget and ridiculously violent as the exploitation movies it seeks to emulate. A release date still has yet to be announced, but shooting has wrapped and the movie is currently in post-production. For more info, stay tuned to the official website; now check out the all new unrated teaser trailer for Hobo with a Shotgun.

The Human Centipede director Tom Six mad a surprise appearance at the London FrightFest where BC was on hand to get all the details on the forthcoming sequel. Already revealed to be attaching 12 humans, The Human Centipede: Full Sequence will be “100% medically INaccurate,” he explained adding “part one will be my little pony compared to this one.” BC also writes in that the sequel is filming in London so that it can be entirely in English. The plan is to wrap by December and premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Six did show some photographs, although BC didn’t tell us what was on display. Six also laughed about the porn version, and joked that “people want to castrate me!” Expect some first looks online in the coming months.

Michael Douglas
went on Letterman Tuesday and talked about the recent news that he has throat cancer.

He has just completed his first of eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy, and appeared a little thinner than usual, with his suit slightly oversize. With the coming weeks of treatment, he said, his voice may change and it could become impossible to swallow solid food.

But he was upbeat, saying that despite his throat cancer being Stage 4, it has not spread down below his throat. Asked by Letterman what the percentages were, Douglas said he has an 80% chance of recovery, with some hospitals even more optimistic.

The Walking Dead Wins Season Two…Before the first one even airs

The story of Frank Darabont’s attempt to bring Robert Kirkman’s beloved zombie comic The Walking Dead to TV screens has, in the last year or so, been filled largely with good news. It got picked up by network AMC, went quickly from pilot to first series commission (AMC’s usual six episode kick-off), and has been building some healthy buzz, particularly after the trailer was shown at Comic-Con and arrived online. Now there’s another milestone passed as the show has won a second season before a frame of the first has even aired.

Fangoria reports that the show has been officially renewed, with filming set to start in February next year. And in keeping with AMC’s usual schedule, the next season will be 13 episodes.

B-D just stumbled upon this HUGE poster showing star David Tennant (aka “Dr. Who”) as Peter Vincent in the Touchstone Fright Night remake; in this incarnation, Vincent is a Las Vegas magician instead of a late-night horror movie TV host. The poster, hanging from a bank of glass elevators in a hotel lobby, is confirmed to be tied to the remake and is presumably a faux-advertisement for the Vincent character’s macabre stage show, conveniently titled…wait for it…Fright Night!

The number of subscribers to cable, satellite and telecom TV services in the U.S. fell for the first time ever in the second quarter, according to research firm SNL Kagan.

The U.S. multichannel TV market lost 216,000 customers last quarter, vs. a gain of 378,000 a year ago. The total number of subscribers to cable, satellite and telecom video fell to 100.1 million in the second quarter, SNL Kagan says.

Cable TV firms lost 711,000 subscribers last quarter, while satellite and telecom TV services managed to add 81,000 and 414,000 subscribers, respectively.

Are more people moving to Internet-based TV?

“Although it is tempting to point to over-the-top video as a potential culprit, we believe economic factors such as low housing formation and a high unemployment rate contributed to subscriber declines in the second quarter,” said SNL Kagan analyst Mariam Rondeli.

The outrageous performer Prince Poppycock might have to change his name to Prince Gaga.

After storming through another out-there performance for the variety show America’s Got Talent last night, the singer was granted a new name to sum up his bizarre stage act.

‘You are the male Lady Gaga,’ judge Sharon Osbourne told the wild-wigged singer. ‘You are a superstar. I bow down to you.’

Prince Poppycock did indeed show bright shades of Lady Gaga’s flamboyant stage style, as well as a strong-likeness to Elton John.

Poppycock, the alter-ego to singer John Quale, performed a stunning version of Queen’s famed Bohemian Rhapsody.
